David Black

Back to About the Artists

David is a singer/songwriter who performs a repertoire of modern and traditional songs in folk and blues styles, with very distinctive 12-string guitar accompaniment. He presents a varied programme of his own and other contemporary songs with his personal arrangements of traditional folk or blues numbers thrown into the mix. Although a long time fan and follower of the folk and blues music scene, he is pretty much a latecomer to songwriting and public performance.

David regularly hosts monthly open floor sessions for The Waveney Valley Folk Collective (WVFC) at Eye in Suffolk and has performed solo concerts at The Fisher Theatre in Bungay and Thetford Folk Club, support sets at The Milkmaid Folk Club, Bury St. Edmunds, short sets at ‘Strummers’ folk club in Cambridge. He has performed at Bury St. Edmunds Beer Festival for The Milkmaid, and at South Norfolk’s ‘WOW’ Festival for WVFC. He was a finalist in the 2017 Milkmaid Songwriting Competition in Bury St. Edmunds and has broadcast live sessions for Cambridge 105 Radio and West Norfolk Radio.

David is one of four musicians whose 2 hour show ‘Songs From The Liberty Tree’ celebrates the hard won civil liberties that make all our lives worth living. First performed in March 2018 the show has so far raised around £800 for a local foodbank.
